Movie Review
Seeing Park Shin Hye in a movie or series sparks one kind energy in me even if I am drained I'd be rekindled when I see her sha cos the vibes and action she brings to a movie alone will keep you glued to your screen. The Call Is about a possessed or haunted house rented out to Kim Seo yeon's parent when she was just a child, the part that it was an haunted house was unrevealed to her mother but just her.

It all started when in the modern day, Seo Yeon moved back to their old house, on getting there she tried dialing her missing phone with a wireless phone and it was answered by a man who demanded a tip for the exchange of her cellphone and it was immediately disconnected. Few minutes she got a call from a stranger, saying strange and weird things, at first she thought it was a wrong call but then when the person called back the caller was screaming out for help, and so the entanglement began. If only Seo Yeon knew better she wouldn't have proceeded with the call, if only she knew what she's bargaining for she wouldn't have made a deal with the Devil herself....  The phone rang again this time around the lady from the other end demanded why she didn't show up yesterday, Seo Yeon said she's not the aforementioned person so the call was disconnected. At night Seo Yeon stumbled on a wall, behind the wall there were different things owned by a shaman and also a diary with a lady's picture in it.

The next morning Seo Yeon asked the Strawberry Man who they were, but all she could get from him was her name and also that her mother was a shaman. The lady called again still trying to speak with the owner of a store (a friend of hers). Seo Yeon told her it seems they both stay in the same house, she then told her an accident would occur at a particular time. It did happen and Yoon sook (the lady) called back, this time feeling insured and wants to know how Seo Yeon got to know what would happen. From there they got talking, exchanged names, age and birthmonth also talking about new technology and inventions. At that moment they seem like an old friend reconnecting once again. Unfortunately just that mistake phone call will change lot of things and also turn back the hands of time. (This is where this song by R.Kelly should come in, IF I COULD TURN BACK THE HANDS OF TIME). If only Seo Yeon knows what is to become of her, she wouldn't have Google search the event that would occur in Oh Young Sook's time because this made Young trust her more and also regard her as the only friend she never had. If only Seo Yeon had been more inquisitive as she has been from the beginning she could have looked up Young Sook on the internet and get to know and see things about her, maybe just maybe they wouldn't have bonded this deep.

Going back to Young Sook's era a man with his wife and daughter stopped by a house which happens to be the one young sook stays in. Mr Kim's family came around to check out the house in order to move in and start their life as a family. Young Sook got to meet young Seo Yeon at that moment she puts a call through to present Seo Yeon, now listening to the conversation brings back old memories. At that moment Yong sook suggested to bring back Seo Yeon's dad back to life, uhmm curious how she's going to do that right? Yes I was also. Remember Young sook's mother is a shaman but she is the one labeled with a bad fortune.
Young Sook set off to Mr Kim's house the next day and prevented an incidence which would cause Mr Kim's death and also the beginning of Seo Yeon's mother ailment. Seo Yeon got her family back and she was once happy, but the return of her parents preoccupied her and also got in between her friendship with young sook, she couldn't keep up with their daily chat. One day young sook called Seo Yeon and started speaking indifferently then another voice was heard which was her mother's telling Seo Yeon never to call young sook or else she would get hurt, Seo Yeon was confused and meanwhile While Seo Yeon was having the best time of her life with her family , young sook was facing all sort of torture from her stepmother all in the name of casting out demons and also getting rid of her bad omen which says lots of death would occur in her future.

Out of curiosity after the last phone call with young sook's mother, Seo Yeon searched on the internet and get to know that young sook would be killed that night by her step mother, she told sook about it. Unknowingly to Seo Yeon just this one call reversed everything, Young sook was to be killed by her step mother but instead she killed her step mother. Now free as a bird she roams the street as mentioned by her step mother that her fortune shows many death would happen in her future so did it start to unraveled. In Mr Kim's house the strawberry man dropped by to say hello and also came with some strawberries, also in Oh young sook's house the strawberry man was there, he went into the house, while young sook went off to put on an outfit the strawberry man saw a human skull /head with blood all over it. Young sook saw him and killed him, before killing him though he dialed the wireless cellphone which was answered by Seo Yeon, she couldn't understand what he was saying but he kept asking for help till the call was disconnected still confused she returned back to the sitting room and asked her parents where the strawberry man (Sung-ho) was but it appears he never existed at all. She went to the police and asked the same question and she was told he died ages ago and was showed a file that says (the strawberry man) was murdered by young sook, she called and confronted her about it. But Young sook had something else in mind which was to know how the police found out and what kind of evidence did they use against her, because in the Era of Seo Yeon, young sook was sentenced to life imprisonment. Now everything seems to make sense to Seo Yeon and now she wasn't interested in young sook affairs anymore, but young sook kept reminding her the favor she did to her which was bringing back her father to life out of annoyance Seo Yeon disconnected the call.

After the disconnection of the call, things started falling apart, in Young sook's Era Mr Kim and his daughter showed up in the house to meet up with young sook's step mother in other to sign some documents regarding the house they came to check few weeks before that day. And in Seo Yeon's Era she's seen learning how to drive alongside her father in the passenger seat, teaching her the basics. Mr Kim was murdered in the house and in the car with Seo Yeon Mr Kim disappeared. All this happened because Seo Yeon disconnected the call now she's left with no choice than to find the evidence for young sook because afterall the reason for their friendship in the first place was because of her father who is now gone forever because of her refusal to find the evidence for Young sook. Now she has to find a way to get Young sook off her back, Seo Yeon tricked oh young sook by telling her the wrong time to go get the evidence, meanwhile at the said time a gas explosion would happen. It did happen burning young sook partially, she got furious  on getting home she poured boiled peach wood water on young Seo Yeon which affected old Seo Yeon. Oh young sook revealed to Seo Yeon who actually caused the death of her father because all this while she had blamed her mother for not turning off the gas cooker the day her father died in the fire accident instead it was her childishness that caused her to turn on the gas. She was seeing a children's program at that time and in the show they instructed their viewers to turn on the gas but in real sense it was meant to be just play or a fiction. Oh young now enjoying the scene she reminded Seo Yeon of how much she hated her mother and not to worry that she would take care of that part for her.

Seo Yeon's mother went to the police to report her daughter and husband missing, she went to the house with one of the policemen to ask few questions as at when Mr Kim and his daughter left the house, at the same time old Seo Yeon was in the house trying to find a way to tell her mother to run out of the place. The policeman was killed and Seo Yeon's mother ran into one the rooms, before the policeman died Seo Yeon got to speak with her mother on the wireless phone telling her to run of the place or she would be killed by oh Yong sook. Seo Yeon also coming face to face with Yong sook trying to snatch the phone and also attacking her. Mother's love truly is the greatest, in the Era of young sook, Eun-ae (Seo Yeon's mother) is seen battling to save her daughter's life even after the severe injuries she has sustained trying to keep off Young sook from attacking them especially her daughter, also in the present day young sook was able to break through the door now trying to attack old Seo Yeon but she suddenly disappears, but in the Era of young sook she was seen falling off from the top of the stairs with Eun-ae (Seo Yeon's mother).

So my people once again is it safe to say "Do not answer a wrong or strange phone call"? As we've seen what just a phone call changed and caused. I applaude the brain behind this work, it's a job well done, I literally watched this movie twice and I'm still gonna watch it again (blushing) that is how good it is. Korean movies or series actually have a special place in my heart lol, aside good and sleep I'd pick Korean drama all over again and this particular movie is different from other movies I've seen, it's thrilling and it takes you back in time. Like you're there and at the same  also here, daebak (awesome) isn't it?.
